Rock fishing new laws and regulations on June 1 officially put into effect! It's illegal not to wear a lifejacket!

Australia not only has a long coastline, beautiful beaches, but also rich in fish stocks in the ocean. Australia's environmental protection is very good, so the water is clear and pollution-free, there is a vegetable hair (Ludrick), sea crucian carp (Bream), tailor fish (tailor), Australia (drummer), no water head fish (kingfish), Sumi (Groper), Skipjack (Bonito) and Australian salmon (Australian salmon) are popular fish.

99% of those killed in rock fishing don't wear life jackets.

As a result, one of the main leisure activities in Australia is fishing on holidays and weekends. Every year, many Australian tourists often experience the pleasure of fishing. In many popular places of travel, professionals take fishing with them, and a large number of them are rock fishermen.

However, rock fishing is very dangerous, every year, the number of people lost their lives as a result of rock fishing. According to data from the Australian Surfer Life Society (SLSA), in the previous 13 years, as of 2017:

A total of 158 people across Australia were killed by rock fishing, of which:

99% of the victims were not wearing a lifejacket.

95% of the dead were male.

62% of the dead were born overseas.

37 per cent of the deceased live more than 50 kilometres from the point of origin

55% of the victims were trapped in the sea by waves.

30% of deaths occur between 2: 00 p.m. and 6: 00 p.m.

New rules: rock fishing must wear lifejackets

To this end, after a long period of research and testing, NSW government will formally implement laws and regulations on the safety of rock fishermen in the area under the jurisdiction of Randwick government from June 1. Even in the government area of Randwick (covering areas including from Clovelly south to Botany Bay) rock fishermen must wear lifejackets.

Rock fishermen are required to comply with the following rules:

Rock fishermen must wear lifejackets when fishing in rock

Check the weather and waves before fishing

Plan "escape" routes when fishing in rock to prevent safe routes from escaping after being wet by waves

Remember not to turn your back to the sea

Wearing suitable anti-skid shoes and plain clothes for rock fishing

If someone around you is drawn into the sea by the waves, remember not to save people blindly by yourself. Please dial 000 in time for help.

Must be accompanied by rock fishing

Earlier, the surfer lifeguard CEO Pierce (Steven Pearce) welcomed the new state during the release of the policy, saying it was an important step in changing the habits of anglers and making it safe. In many cases of rock-fishing drowning, he said in a statement on Friday, fishermen could avoid tragedies if they put on life jackets.

Lifejackets must comply with Australian specifications

Blair (Niall Blair), director of the new state's primary industry, stressed that while many rock fishermen wear lifejackets, they do not meet Australia's standards, and many wear life jackets that are more suitable for boat fishing than rock fishing.

All lifejackets must comply with the Australian adult specification AS 4785, Class 50 (Australian Standard AS 4785 level 50S, and children (aged less than 12 years) must wear Australian AS4758100 Class and above.

High risk fishing area

There are many fishing spots in Sydney, but the danger is often proportional to the heat of the fishing point, and it is important to pay more attention to going to these places.

1.North Bondi

Climbing an iron ladder, climbing a cliff, there's no way out.

Risk index:

Located near the famous Bondi Beach, where Wang Qintao disappeared. This area is close to the urban area, there are a wide range of fishing grounds, can be targeted at different target fish fishing places. The main fish species are Bream,Ludrick,Drummer,Groper,Kingfish and salmon.

The fishing point risk coefficient is extremely high, three people have been killed since last year. The cliffs were towering, and the only way down to the fishing ground was by climbing down the railway ladder. There are so many fishing here that once the waves hit, there was no way out, and all three of them lost their lives. Go in 15 minutes, there are other fishing points on the cliff, but remember to shake the rod be careful not to fall. Go to this point to climb a 4-meter-high cliff and climb up and down with only one rope. This fishing point is suitable for winter northwest monsoon period, once the wave height exceeds 1.3 meters, it is best not to go.

2.Maroubra

Common "rabid dog wave"

Risk index:

This point is located near Maroubra Beach, just 15 minutes along the aisle next to the parking lot. The fishing range is small and suitable only for small groups. Target fish including Bream,Ludrick,Drummer and Kingfish, fish in good time-frequency harvest, poor small fish disaster.

It is a Jedi where the whole fishing area can be submerged when the waves are high. Because of submarine topography, the legendary "rabid dog wave", at least 2 people have been killed here, more people in the water. Because of a large platform not far away, it is relatively easy for the submersible to climb back to the shore. The old horse himself had fallen here in 2001 and was lucky to save himself. This fishing point is suitable for fishing in summer when the wave height is less than 1 meter.

3.La Perouse

The waves are wet and slippery and easy to fall into the sea

Risk index:

La Perouse Island, located in Botany Bay, is one of the fishing hotspots near Sydney. The fishing grounds are scenic and target fish include Ludrick,Groper,Bream and squid. The platform on the island is wide, there are many fishing places, and there is a group of people fishing in this rock all the year round.

This easy-to-relax fishing point is actually dangerous. There are thick moss on the sea platform, if the waves are eager to retreat, it is very easy to fall. The water level at this point is very deep, and there are often "mad dog waves".

Rock fishing is good, life is more valuable, I hope you can abide by the law and protect their own life safety.
