After the explosion broke out of the embassy compound on July 26, 2018, visa services were interrupted and then resumed, and people lined up outside the US embassy to apply for visas.
The State Department will now require almost everyone applying for a U.S. visa to submit social media, email and telephone information.
The new rules require applicants for immigration and non-immigration visas to list all social media user names, email addresses and phone numbers used over the past five years.
Officials say the demands will affect nearly 15 million foreigners. Only those who apply for diplomatic and official visas can be exempted from the new rule.
Visa applicants to the United States will also be asked if any family members are involved in terrorist activities
The new rule was first introduced in March 2018.
