Berlin-based start-up Nestpick surveyed 80 popular immigrant cities around the world and released on Tuesday the most expensive city for new immigrants to settle, according to Domain. Sydney and Melbourne, Australia's two major state capitals, are on the list.

The most expensive city was Dubai's A $5580.97 for new immigrants to (Dubai), in the first month, and the second-most expensive visa, second only to Auckland, according to the results.

Melbourne ranked 14th in the list of the most expensive cities for new immigrants to settle in.)

There seems to be a link between the most expensive resettlement cities and the most livable cities.

Earlier, Mercer (Mercer), an international consultancy, released a report on the world's most livable cities, showing that the Austrian capital, Vienna, is the world's most livable city, and the city ranks 27th among expensive cities for immigrants to settle down. It costs A $2557.62 for the first month.

Zurich is the second best-to-live city, which ranks eighth among expensive cities where immigrants spend A $3807.73 in their first month of settlement.

Auckland ranked third in livable cities, with Sydney and Melbourne ranked 11th and 16th, respectively.

K ü c ü kdere, general manager of Nestpick, said the company created the list to help people who wanted to emigrate to live in the best cities.

The cost of living, he points out, is often the biggest factor affecting immigrants' choice to settle in the city. Additional expenses, such as visa application fees, are usually incurred in the initial months of residence. The list is a good reflection of the affordability or expense of the hottest destinations, helping people looking for opportunities to go abroad to make smarter choices.
