It's decided! Australia's famous red stone, Uluru, has been permanently banned from climbing since 2019! And climb and cherish it.

This famous red stone can't climb again!

Today, members of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park Management Committee unanimously passed a resolution banning tourists from climbing (Uluru). In Uluru from 2019 on a permanent basis.

At that time, all climbing paths and auxiliary chains will be removed, and climbing will not only be very difficult, but will also face penalties. Maximum fine of $60000 plus two years imprisonment!

The ban came into effect on Oct. 26, 2019, the 34th anniversary of Uluru's return to indigenous peoples.

Sammy Wilson, chairman of the Uluru National Park Management Council, an indigenous elderly, said the decision was correcting a century-long mistake.

"some people may think that we should not ban tourists from climbing stones, but Uluru is a very important, very sacred place for the indigenous people, and it is not a theme park like Disney."

"goverment must respect our culture, just as we abide by its laws."

"after consulting with the aborigines, we feel that it is time to issue this ban."

In fact, the indigenous people, the traditional owners of Uluru, began calling on tourists not to climb Uluru as early as 1985. In 1992, they also erected slogans around the rocks, hoping that tourists would seriously consider climbing Uluru.

But there has been controversy over whether a permanent ban should be imposed and has been debated for many years. Some tourism groups believe the ban will affect the development of local tourism and lead to a decline in the number of tourists.

However, the Uluru Park Management Board believes that although it is not possible to climb stones, there are many other local cultures and activities for tourists to experience, so long as they have the right support from goverment, they will not affect the local tourism industry.

Anyway, this boulder is a very sacred place for the locals, and since the 1950s, according to statistics, 34 people have been killed in climbing Uluru. So let's not climb for our own safety and for the sake of the indigenous people's national beliefs.

In addition, starting next year, Kimberley, a famous tourist attraction in Western Australia, will charge every visitor!

The charges will be rolled out in phases:

  • First, during the current tourist season, each cruise ship and chartered ship entering the area will be charged $200 per berth;
  • Secondly, starting next year, a fee of $86 per person will be charged for tourists travelling to the area by boat;
  • Starting in 2019, the cost will rise to $150 per person;
  • These fees are not included in the fees charged by cruise operators to tourists, which means that starting next year, each visitor to Kimberley will have to pay additional fees.

So, have not gone or plan to go here, may as well hurry to go this year, money, can save a bit oh.
