Record number of Victorians visiting the resort, the best skiing time is Septembe

According to the Times, the number of Victorians skiing at mountain resorts this year has set a record. According to Alpine Resorts Coordination Council data, Victorians are now taking full advantage of the snow.

The number of visitors to Mount Baw Baw,Lake Mountain,Mount Stirling and Mount Buller is up more than 30 percent from the 10-year average.

As of Aug. 19, 671769 people had arrived at the state ski resort, up 45842 from last year's number of visitors.

The Council's Alex Shilton expects more snow to fall during the ski season.

The Mount Hotham Resort Management Council, Anita Coia, said the council was pleased that those who visited the resort had given way to Gippsland's small towns and businesses.

She believes that thanks to Australia's impressive performance at the Winter Olympics this year, more and more Victorians are becoming interested in skiing.

"I think there is a growing awareness of the state's skiing industry."

Lake Mountain is also doing well. "We have one hundred and eleven thousand nine hundred and ninety nine visitors so far and we haven't met that standard for years."

All resorts say the best time to go to ski resorts is mid-week or near the end of the ski season in September.
