Australian customers bought fake iPhone on eBay

Some of the parts of iPhone 7 that Vaughn (Dan Warne) received were from two years ago.

Hundreds of Australian customers were tricked into buying fake iPhones from overseas stores on eBay, Australia's largest shopping site, the Messenger Post reported.

It is reported that the counterfeit smartphones use old Apple phone circuit boards, screen quality, even the shell typographical errors. But the fake iPhones can sell hundreds of Australian dollars on eBay's Australian website.

Melbourne-based customer Vaughn (Dan Warne) said he paid A $709 last month to buy a iPhone 7 phone, but he regretted it when he got it. Because the phone is obviously fake. Not only is the 'iPhone' font' on the back of the phone's shell incorrect, but the space between the letters is also wrong. Although the phone is equipped with Apple software, the screen quality is very poor.

Vaughn's further investigation also found that the phone used a circuit board two years ago, the outer packaging was duplicated, and there were glue marks on the charger.

Merchants selling Vaughn phones have received 21 negative reviews in the past month, with most users complaining that the phones were being turned over and batteries were not right, the Australian News Network survey found. In addition, five other businesses on the eBay Australia platform have received complaints over the past month of selling fake iPhones, on which they all claim to be local legal companies.

In response, a spokesman for eBay said the company had to consider whether there were "retaliatory feedback" from competitors to businesses, or whether the product description was inappropriate before it could suspend sellers from selling goods.

Feller (Daniel Feiler), senior head of public relations and media at eBay Asia Pacific, said many of the iPhones sold on the eBay were not fakes, but they were assembled from non-original components. It is misdescribed as a "new" mobile phone, which serves as a market platform and does not deliver goods, so it needs to be negotiated between merchants and customers when problems arise, and eBay employees can provide assistance. In worse cases, eBay intervenes, and the platform has a buyer-guaranteed process that allows for refunds.
