According to travel website Escape, the "aviation Oscar" was held last night in London, UK. Skytrax's 2018 World Best airline Award (Skytrax World Airline Awards) was unveiled, with airlines from Asia taking the lead. Singapore Airlines (Singapore Airlines) is ranked as the best in the world.
It is reported that Skytrax's World's Best Airline Award is based on a survey conducted between August 2017 and May 2018. More than 20 million passengers voted for 335 airlines worldwide.
Singapore Airlines was named the world's best airline, the first time in four years that the title has been held by airlines outside the Middle East, according to the results.
Last year's winner, Qatari Airways (Qatar), retired 2.2016 in first place, Emirates (Emirates), in fourth place.
Atihad Airlines (Etihad Airways), another big Middle Eastern airline, dropped out of the top 10, ranking 15th.
Among the top 10 airlines this year are small or emerging airlines from Asia.
It is reported that Japan's all-day Airways (ANA) ranked third. TW's Eva (EVA Air, is famous for its Hello Kitty aircraft) and Cathay Pacific's (Cathay Pacific) in Hong Kong is fifth and sixth, respectively.
China's mainland Hainan Airlines (Hainan Airlines), Indonesia Hawk Airlines (Garuda Indonesia) and Thai Airlines (Thai Airways) are among the top 10.
Qantas (Qantas) ranked 11th, up from 15th last year.
Virgin Australia's (Virgin Australia) slipped to 22nd place from 13th place last year, ahead of Rosneft's (Aeroflot).
Singapore Airlines, in addition to winning the world's best airline title, its first class is also rated the world's best.
Asian airlines also performed well in other categories of awards. Indonesia's Hawk Airways crew was rated the world's best; Thai Airlines won the best economy class title; and Eva Airlines won the best aviation service award. In addition, AirAsia (AirAsia) has been awarded the best cheap airline for 10 years in a row.
The world's best regional airlines are also from Asia for Bangkok Airlines (Bangkok Airways). The best progressive airline is China Southern Airlines (China Southern).
