The water quality of Forest Lake around Brisbane has been deteriorating since the past few weeks, not only with the stench coming out, but also the fish in the lake recently.
For some reason, management has recovered nearly 700kg of dead fish from the lake since July 30, nearly half of the life in the lake, according to local media < Brisbane Times > in Bucun.
In addition to the large-scale deaths of invasive species, some of the relatively rare local catfish died as a result. And on the lake surface green algae also breed extensively, causes the whole lake water to send the stench.
However, the, Forest Lake administrator said the quality of the lake is still normal. They did a lot of tests with City Council, including checking the lake's oxygen content and algae content, and found no anomalies.
The city hall now believes it is a continuously falling temperature that causes the lake to be too low, killing most of the fish. However, there is no clear conclusion, the City Hall will continue to investigate further.
