Trump wrote to reject Kim Jong-un: I had the feeling that there would be a wonderful conversation between you and me

It was so sudden.

North Korea today abandoned a nuclear test site in the north-east of the country in the presence of foreign journalists.

Trump today sent a letter to Kim Jong-un through international media abandoning a special cash conference planned for June 12 in Singapore.

The White House's Trump letter was made public by the US NBC, which translated the full text of the letter.

As follows:

Chairman of the State Council of the Democratic people's Republic of Korea

H.E. Kim Jong-un

Dear Chairman,

We thank you very much for your time, patience and effort in facilitating the meeting scheduled for 12 June in Singapore. This meeting has been sought by both sides for a long time, and there have been many negotiations and consultations recently. We were told that the meeting was initiated by North Korea, but it was irrelevant to us. I was looking forward to meeting you there. Unfortunately, based on the extreme anger and open hostility shown in your recent statement, I find it inappropriate to hold this long-awaited meeting at this time. So please let this letter convey on my behalf that the Singapore meeting will not take place, which is good for both of us, but not for the world. You are talking about your nuclear capabilities, but we have so many nuclear weapons that I pray to God that they will never be used.

I had the feeling that you and I were building a wonderful conversation, and in the end, only dialogue was important. Maybe one day, I will look forward to seeing you very much. At the same time, I would like to thank you for the release of the hostages, who are now back home and together with their families. This is a beautiful and commendable move.

If you change your mind about this very important summit, don't hesitate to call me or write to me. The whole world, especially North Korea, has lost a major opportunity to maintain peace, prosperity and wealth. This lost opportunity is a truly sad moment in history.

You're sincere.

President of the United States of America
