The richest people in Australia? The average population has a wealth of $191453

The United States is the richest country? No, Australia is! Australia's average population wealth reached $191, 453, far outpacing developed countries such as the United States and France, making it the richest country in the world, according to a new report from Credit Suisse.

The United States is known to have the largest number of millionaires, but judging whether a country is really rich depends on how it is measured. Australia ranks first in terms of the number of wealthiest people.

In a report released in October by Credit Suisse (Credit Suisse), the United States is in the lead in terms of global wealth. A closer look at the numbers in the report, however, reveals different stories.

While America's wealth is growing faster than anywhere else in the world, when you compare the average amount of wealth per adult, it's not the richest.

The award will be awarded to Switzerland, as shown below. Australia came in second, ahead of the United States.

Maybe you might think: From the picture it seems that Switzerland is richer than Australia. The United States is doing very well. So what did you explain?

The above ranking is calculated by dividing a country's total wealth by its total population. This means that it does not reflect the fact that in the United States, for example, 0.1 per cent of upper-class American households have the same wealth as the remaining 90 per cent of the population.

"the United States is the largest member of 1 percent of global wealth groups and currently accounts for 41 percent of the world's millionaires," the Credit Suisse report said. "our research shows that the United States has added 878000 new millionaires since 2017, accounting for about 40 percent of global growth."

But ranking the world's richest countries in different ways may be fairer by counting the countries with the richest people per capita.

Credit Suisse also uses these figures to compare each country's median, middleman's wealth.

Australians are the richest in the ranking. The United States is not even in the top 10.

By this measure, Australia ranks top by average wealth of $191453 ($263822) per adult. The United States ranked 18th with an average wealth of $61667 ($84977) per adult, lagging far behind other countries, including the United Kingdom ($97169) and Canada ($97169).

$106342) and New Zealand ($US98613).

Economists often point to the simple fact that wealth makes it easier to get more wealth, which means that people with large amounts of money will pass from generation to generation.

To balance this, the economist Darrick Hamilton, a professor at, New York's new college,

Hamilton) recently proposed a baby trust fund system. His idea is that, based on the wealth of all children's families in the United States, they are given a large sum of money at birth, ranging from $500 to $ six hundred thousand. It will help keep the future of all children on the same starting line, he said.

"Wealth is the most important indicator of economic security and happiness," Hamilton (Hamilton) said at New York TED headquarters in September. "now is the time to look at and deal with this right, and it is unfair to ignore the wealth advantage and value the individual deficit to a large extent."
