At the Australian Tourism Awards Annual Awards, Queensland's (Toowoomba) Flower Carnival (Carnival of Flowers) won the gold medal.
This year's Australian Tourism Awards ceremony was held on Friday night in Perth.
The Flower Carnival beat competitors including Melbourne F1 Grand Prix, Byron Bay blues music industry (Byron Bay Bluesfest), South Australia cycling race (Tour Down Under) and Western Australia Mandura Crab Festival (Mandurah Crab Fest).
At a 10-day flower carnival last September, the number of visitors jumped 30 percent, attracting more than two hundred and fifty five thousand visitors.
During the carnival, Tutumba's parks and gardens were covered with about two hundred thousand flowers.
Tuvenba City Councillor Geoff McDonald proudly said: "this activity reinforces its status as a true national symbol."
