A direct flight between Shenzhen, China, and Darwin, Australia's northern territory, will open on May 30, according to Radio 9.

It is reported that the East China Sea Airlines (Donghai Airlines) to Shenzhen and Darwin's new direct flight will open tomorrow, a one-way flight time of about 5 and a half hours.

This is an important milestone for the Northern Territory, where the government has been working for years to open direct flights between China and the Northern Territory.

It is reported that about 18,000 Chinese tourists visit the Northern Territory every year. After the opening of the new direct flight route, by 2020, the number of Chinese tourists is expected to exceed 30,000. An increase in Chinese tourists will inject more than A $30 million into the struggling economy of the Northern Territory.

Moss (Lauren Moss), the director of tourism in the Northern Territory, said no other place could have had as much population and development opportunities as China during the same non-stop flight hours. The opening of the route will not only bring convenience to Chinese tourists, but also provide a good choice for residents of the Northern Territory. Shenzhen is a place to enjoy food and explore, there are many different and exciting things, and the city is very close to Hong Kong.

Although the Northern Territory lacks the luxury shopping space that Chinese tourists love, Moss believes the unique culture of the area will attract many visitors back.

Moss pointed out that for Australia, China is one of the fastest-growing international tourism markets, and the Northern Territory should ensure that all sides can keep pace with the development of the market.

It is reported that Moss has arrived in Shenzhen, she will take the new non-stop flight tomorrow on the first flight back to Darwin.
