Be careful about speeding! South Australia overspeed photo shoot and upgrade

South Australia's top-paid high-speed monitoring device is preparing to upgrade to monitor more speeding vehicles, the 9news reported July 12.

Surveillance on the South Eastern Freeway road in Leawood Gardens will be moved up the hill and equipped with a high-tech device designed to monitor speeding trucks and buses.

The project is in progress and the foundation is being lifted.

The escalation of surveillance angered a large number of drivers.

The state says it will be able to monitor more speeding trucks and buses when surveillance is upgraded.

One truck driver said: "this surveillance upgrade is more stringent than I thought."

Last year, the surveillance imposed a fine of nearly 4 million Australian dollars, equivalent to 11,000 a day, but the state government insisted the upgrade was not intended to increase revenue.

"We are well aware that this is a notorious crossroads, and this upgrade is just to ensure that all speeding trucks and buses are monitored," Criminal Minister Corey Wingard said.

The Transport Department has not responded to the question of why existing surveillance has failed to monitor all speeding buses and trucks.

It is not clear when the monitoring will be in use.
