Using high-end sensor technology installed in cars over the past three months, RACV revealed Melbourne's 10 busiest roads.

Last week, the Herald Sun reported that 3/4 commuters in Melbourne rely on cars, with about 1.5 million people on their way every day.

In the southeastern and eastern urban areas, roads in Toorak,Balwyn North and Lyndhurst are the most congested.

After the reduction in Burke Rd between Eastern Freeway and The Boulevard in Balwyn North from four lanes to two lanes, the peak average speed dropped sharply from 66 km / h to 27 km / h.

An infamous roundabout will be upgraded in mid-2019, with the speed of the Thompsons Rd road in Lyndhurst dropping by more than half to 30 kilometers per hour.

The Kings Way between West Gate Freeway and York St is the worst road for CBD traffic. The number of vehicles passed here remained unchanged, but the rush hour fell from 49 km / h to 18 km / h.

Barkly St passes through the busy shopping area of Footscray, where the speed of the road is basically snail speed during rush hours.

RACV is now asking people to vote on the 10 worst roads in Melbourne. This is also part of its 2018 Red spot survey of (Redspot Survey). The results will be announced before November's state elections.

RACV Road and Traffic Manager Dave Jones said they wanted to hear from all road users, including drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists, public transport users and pedestrians.
