Australia's full-time average salary is announced, the highest wage city is Canberra

Without deducting taxes and bonuses, Australians earn an average of A $1585.30 a week.

The latest official figures show that Australia's full-time employees earn an average of A $82435 a year, the Daily Mail reported. Among them, one city has a much higher salary than that average.

It is reported that the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) on Thursday released salary data for May. Without deducting taxes and bonuses, Australians earn an average of A $1585.30 a week, which is equivalent to an average annual income of A $82435.60 for full-time workers, according to the data.

Men earn A $87209.20 a year for full-time workers, compared with A $74562.80 for women in low-wage sectors, a 17 percent difference.

If they want to earn 14 percent more, they should go to Canberra, where full-time employees earn an average of A $94224 a year, compared with an average of A $1812 a week, the highest of any state or territory in Australia.

Western Australia, which is dominated by mining, has the second-highest annual salary in Australia, at A $90496.

The Northern Territory has many gas projects, with an average annual salary of A $86762, the third highest in Australia.

The average annual salary in New York is A $83517, another area higher than the average across Australia.

Canberra's average full-time salary is the highest in Australia.

In addition, the state has the lowest pay level in Australia, with an average weekly salary of A $1379.20 and an annual salary of A $71718.40.

In terms of jobs, mining engineers earn the highest weekly salary of A $2592, or an average of A $134784 a year.

This was followed by media and telecommunications jobs, with an average annual salary of A $100396. Jobs in the finance and insurance services sector stood at A $98532.

On the other hand, the lowest level of full-time pay comes from the accommodation and food services industry, with an average annual salary of A $59103. Retail trading jobs are also poorly paid, with an average annual salary of just A $60388.

In the six months to May 2018, average wages for Australians are reported to have increased by 1 percent, compared with 2.7 percent for adults. Although modest, there was an improvement over the same period in 2017, when wages rose by just 0.6 percent.

Australian civil servants' annual pay increases were the biggest, at 3.2 percent, higher than the 2.7 percent increase for private sector workers.
