Located in downtown Melbourne, the capital of Victoria, Rod Laver Arena is the main venue for the Australian Open, one of the four Grand Slams. Completed in 1988, the court has been the home of the Australian Open, with a maximum capacity of 14,820 spectators, one of the highest seats in the world.

The court was officially named Rod Laver Arena. in January 2000 in honor of Australian tennis player Rod Raver (born in Queensland Rod Laver,1938 year), who won three men's singles Australian Open titles

Rod Laver Arena is also the venue for the 2000 World Champion wrestling and the 2006 Commonwealth Games gymnastics competition.
