Introduction

Sydney Hospital, located in downtown Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, is Australia's earliest hospital, dating back to 1788 and moving to its current location in 1811.

Sydney Hospital, also known as rum hospital, is a historic hospital, now the central part of the building was rebuilt in 1885. The name of the hospital was derived from the fact that in the early 19th century Governor Macquarie granted to the people who built the hospital the right to import rum, which at that time was so valuable that 8L rum was said to be able to buy a wife. Nowadays, the bronze boar in front of the hospital is even more attractive to people to visit. It is said that coming here to touch the boar's nose will bring good luck all year round!
