Introduction

The small town of Nowra, Meroogal, located in (Illawarra region), Irrawara, southeast New South Wales, is about 160km north from Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, and about 35km south from (Huskisson), the main town of (Jervis Bay) in Javier Bay.

Meroogal, a historic building, was listed in the New South Wales Historic Building Conservation list in 1999 and is now owned by the New South Wales Historic Architecture Trust and is open to the public as a family museum on a designated date.

Meroogal and its garden, built in 1886 by Kenneth Mackenzie (Kenneth Mackenzie), are a two-story wooden hut with a typical late Victorian style, when Nowra was just declared a town. The size and size of the Meroogal is very high in the surrounding areas, although it is nothing compared to the luxury houses in Sydney.

Unlike many of Australia's historic buildings that are open to public visits, Meroogal has never lived with celebrities or tycoons. Its value and significance lie in documenting the life and history of ordinary families in New York's rural areas. A fascinating aspect of Meroogal's collection as a museum is the collection of nearly 4000 household items and family treasures, from Kenneth Mackenzie's elaborate furniture to family members' personal diaries, family scrapbooks, letters and paperwork. It showcases more than a hundred years of social and technological changes in Australia.
