Hermits Cave is a cave on a mountain that was once home to Italian immigrant Valerio (Valerio), where he lived for 23 years. Valerio came to Australia at the age of 17, earlier working as a miner in (Broken Hill), Brocenhill, and after leaving Brocenhill, he went to Griffith to find a reclusive place because he was lovelorn.
