Koala Conservation Centre is located in central (Phillip Island), Philip Island, about 140km southeast of Melbourne, the capital of Victoria.
Koala Conservation Centre, which covers an area of about 6 hectares, was founded in 1991 and is committed to koala research and conservation, playing a vital role in ensuring that Philip Island has a protected koala population.
Tourists in Koala Conservation Centre, can stroll through the dense and pristine jungle while watching wild koalas in their natural habitat. Visitors can take two tracks: the koala trail (Koala Boardwalk) and the woodland trail (Woodland Boardwalk), to have a close encounter with the wild koala at the top of the tree.
Here, tourists can:
- Walking down the jungle path, looking all the way for kangaroos, echidna, birds and other Australian wildlife;
- Learn about koalas' wonderful life at the Visitor Interactive Service Center (Visitor's Centre);
- Select unique gifts in the gift shop;
- Relax in a cafe and enjoy a good meal or some snacks;
- It is open every day from 10: 00 a.m. to 5: 00 p.m. (2: 00 p.m. Christmas).
