Introduction

Trial Bay Gaol is located on the northern headland of (Arakoon National Park), Aragon National Park, near the coastal town of South West Rocks on the east coast of New South Wales.

Trial Bay Gaol was founded in 1886, during the first World War, where many German immigrants were detained for fear that German descendants in the country would become sympathizers of enemy countries, causing harm to the country. This is also a scar of Australian democracy. Today, the picturesque, far-flung prison site has become a museum of remembrance of history, reminding people of the hard-won way to live a better life.
