(Herring Island), which covers an area of about 3.2 hectares, is located in (Yarra River), the Yala River, which flows through the capital of Victoria, Melbourne. It is about 5 kilometers from the urban area of Melbourne and is the largest island on the Yala River.
There are no residents on Herin Island, and there is a picnic area on the island. Herring Island Sculpture Park is an informal park on Helin Island, where collector Maodi Palmer (Maudie Palmer) was inspired to draw lessons from artists who use natural materials, such as stone, soil and wood, to make sculptures made of natural materials, such as stone, soil and wood, which have become part of the island's unique and quiet environment.
Andy Goldsworthy, an internationally renowned British environmental artist, has created two works on the island: a slate mound and a stone house made of Dunkeld sand stone, and four other Australian artists have placed their works on the island:
- John Davis, opus: Hill, River, Two Rocks, Presence
- Jill Parker (Jill Peck),: steering (Steerage), Julie Collins (Julie Collins), audience (Audience)
- Robert James: The Ramp, Torres Strait Islander
- Alan Joss (Ellen Jose): welcoming ceremony (Tanderrum)
