Standing on a cultivated plain and up to 150m high, Scolia Mountain is a striking landmark range, a volcanic rock neck formed by volcanic movement from 2000 to 26 million years ago, with a number of extraordinary basalt megacolith columns. Mount Scoria Conservation Park, with its few open woodlands inland in Queensland, walks along a short cultural path to protect the park, where walkers can enjoy the beautiful scenery of these extraordinary pillars, explaining the importance of the range to dry-ancient passers-by. Mount Scoria Conservation Park offers barbecue facilities for home-based picnics and friends' casual parties and protects the park from camping.
