The Sydney man walked well outside the government building, but there was a great deal of trouble

 05 Nov 2018

A man in Sydney threatened a passer-by with a gun outside the government building on Sunday and tried to rob the passer-by.

At present, the man has been arrested by the police.

The 29-year-old victim was robbed with a knife by a 22-year-old assailant while walking on Macquarie Street at 12:45 on Sunday. The victim immediately felt bad and turned to the Special Police at the New South Wales Government Building for help.

The 22-year-old man became agitated as he was approached by a special patrol, police said. He allegedly threw a knife on the ground before he was arrested. The man was then taken to Sydney City Police Station.

Police accused the man of deliberately threatening and attempting to steal property, carrying a knife in public and resisting police officers on duty.

He has been granted conditional bail and will appear before the Downing Central District Court on December 5.
