Melbourne police clashed with rioters on St. Kitts beach last night, two arrested

Police clashed with a gang of young thugs in (St Kilda Beach), Melbourne Saint Kitts Beach, last night when they were arrested with guns pointed at them.

An 18-year-old man from Flemington has been charged with hold drug and acquired bail, while a 17-year-old boy from North Melbourne has not been prosecute and has been released.

Witnesses told Channel 9 this morning that as many as 30 whites and young Africans had physical clashes with police in a horrific and frightening situation.

Marine Parade and Jacka Boulevard were lit by police lights, and the Public order response Unit was sent to the scene to support uniformed police officers.

Police have been patrolling the area since a series of violent armed robberies at St Kilda Beach.

Earlier this month, a cook was beaten by a group of African men.

Port Philippe City Hall is funded by the state government and is installing cameras in the area, but it will not be available until early December.
