Lake El: the most mysterious lake in Australia, only once in 25 years.

 28 Nov 2018

In Australia, there is such a magical lake, it sometimes does not. During the rainy season, it is Australia's largest lake, covering an area of 8200 square kilometers.

But in the dry season, it is not stored, the area is only O square meters.

1, "Lake of Magic." Lake Al, (Lake Eyre).

In the geography book, the lake is recorded as 0-8, 200 square kilometers.

When it is filled with water, it is Australia's largest lake and the world's 19th largest lake.

But since the average annual rainfall is less than 120mm, the evaporation is as high as 2500 millimeters, nearly 20 times the difference, so the lake dries up almost completely during the dry season, and it appears only four times in 100 years.

2. Discovery of Lake Al.

The first European colonists to come to Australia had long assumed that there were not only lakes but also vast inland seas in central Australia.

In 1839, 25-year-old British explorer Edward Al (Edward John Eyre), eager to cross Australia from the south to the north, set off from the southern city of Adelaide to the north and began his extraordinary journey.

When he went all alone to Lake El, he was blocked by the inexhaustible lake, and so, although he had not succeeded in achieving the feat of crossing, he unexpectedly discovered Lake Al, and therefore, The lake was also named after him.

Between 1832 and 1860, a number of research teams came here to investigate, and some came here without seeing a drop of water, so they came back without success, while others were lucky enough to see a complete view of Lake El.

The water level of Lake Al depends mainly on the annual monsoon and rainfall in the lake basins of Queensland and the Northern Territory. During the rainy season, the water of Lake Al ripples and plants are densely covered by the lakefront. The bare shores quickly bloomed, feeding on the lake's little fish and shrimp, flocks of birds, and the vitality of Lake Al.

After they returned, they were prepared to carry out a thorough survey and measure the area of the lake the next year, but to their surprise, when they returned again, they were surprised to find that they were going to be able to return to the area of the lake in great detail, but to their surprise, when they returned again, The vibrant lake had long disappeared, and had been replaced by a salt-covered depression, where all living things were hard to find, and all around it was dead.

Reincarnation has been going on for 30, 000 years at Lake El.

In this way, since it was discovered, Lake Al has been "playing" the team again and again, most of the time it has been "asleep", only in very few times will it be alive.

So it wasn't until 1870 that people seized the opportunity of a surge in Lake El's water and measured the size of the lake.

3, "the pink heart."

Apart from occasional times, there is often an incredible picture of Lake Al, which is pink.

Biologists have shown that this wonderful pink is actually a masterpiece of microbes that, in extreme salinization, produce a red pigment that absorbs sunlight and turns the lake red.

As the lake water salinity changes, the color of the water will also appear from light red to deep red color changes, this wonderful landscape makes people feel beautiful irresistible.

4. Lake El National Park

The (Lake Eyre National Park), has now been set up to add light to the desolate interior of South Australia.

Lake El National Park is 60 km east of Wilhelm Creek (William Creek), (Oodnadatta Track) on the Udenadata path, and the best travel time is from April to October.

The best place to enjoy Lake Al from land is Haligan Bay (Halligan Bay), if it just rains, canoe lake. But the best way to view the lake is from the sky, so if you encounter flooding, you have to experience it.

In addition, you can also drop by way of a visit to the famous inland town of Udinadata, the Australian town of Cubpedi (Coober Pedy) or the Simpson Desert (Simpson Desert).
