Zhou Shuo used the speech made at the city`s parliament special meeting to call on Australian Chinese to unite to fight racism.

He said the motion against him was racially motivated because he was born in China.

Hundreds of local residents went to parliament, crowded into the hallway outside the venue, listening to the motion debate on the suspension of the mayor and deputy mayor, as well as the results of the vote.
