 21 Sep 2020

The company's business is not expected to be significantly affected by the U.S. ban on Huawei, according to foreign media reports AMD senior vice president Forrest Norrod of U.S. computer processor manufacturers.

This is the first U. S. manufacturer to publicly offer a license to supply Huawei after the ban came into effect on the 15th of this month. Huawei have a number of computer products using AMD Ruilong series CPU..3

Forrest Norrod stressed at a technical meeting that the company will be 100% committed to complying with U.S. law, and has taken appropriate measures to ensure that the company manages the list of entities and relationships with customers or potential customers.

However, there is analysis, because CPU is only one of the core components of the computer, display, memory, storage and other important parts are indispensable. Samsung Display、LG Display and other display panel manufacturers, as well as memory chip manufacturers such as Micron, SK Hercules, and COMS image sensor manufacturers Sony have been cut off Huawei, If the suppliers of these important parts can not resume the supply of Huawei, the shipment of computers will still be greatly affected.

Many manufacturers, including Intel, Micron, Samsung, SK Hercules, TSMC, MediaTek and SMIC (00981), said earlier that they had applied to the U.S. Commerce Department for a license to continue supplying Huawei.
