School notice in Sydney reminds visitors not to take photos of students

 03 Jun 2018

Gleeber Public School notices to remind visitors not to take Student Photo (Daily Telegraph)

When it comes to Sydney`s tourist attractions, Gleeber Public School (Glebe Public School) is no match between Sydney Harbour Bridge (Sydney Harbour Bridge) and Sydney Opera House (Sydney Opera House). However, the school was still forced to post notices asking visitors not to take photographs of students.

According to the Daily Telegraph, overseas tour buses often stop outside the Gleeber Public School in Sydney to allow tourists to travel to the nearby University of Sydney, (Sydney University). Many tourists will take pictures of students walking into the school gate, causing complaints from parents.

After discussions with the police, Sydney City Council and the New State Department of Education, the school posted multilingual notices along the road at the school gate, asking visitors not to take photographs of students, including English, Chinese and Spanish.

However, the relevant notice has been posted for a year, the problem still exists.

In an interview on Thursday, a tourist bus driver outside Gleeber public school said travel companies need to tell their clients that it is inappropriate to take photos of students. The driver said there was a tourist who kept taking pictures of his students and had to block them.

New state Labour Party education spokesman Dib (Jihad Dib) said taking pictures of children was a worrying issue. Although most of the time, tourists are not malicious, but can not take the risk. The most important thing is to protect the children.
