Melbourne`s only pet cemetery was forced to close on June 22 due to the latest parliamentary restrictions.

Over the past 52 years, (Pets Memorial Gardens), the (Rowville) Pet Memorial Garden in southeastern Melbourne, has provided a place for grieving owners to stop to think about the past, according to the Daily Mail. However, the city council recently imposed restrictions on the use of pet cemeteries, making it impossible to continue operation.

The Pet Memorial Garden is Melbourne`s only pet cemetery, where thousands of animals are buried, from cats, dogs, horse racing champions to rabbits, goats, goldfish and even lizards.

Nearby neighbors have complained repeatedly about noise and smoke at pet crematoria, prompting the local council to cut down on crematorium hours.

Alexander (John Alexander), owner of the pet memorial garden, said: "it`s really heartbreaking for everyone involved. The gate of the pet cemetery is always open to the public. Most of the days people come to plant flowers. This is really disappointing. I don`t know what to do next. "

Alexander has now issued a notice inviting pet owners to withdraw the commemorative card.
