Rioting broke out at the Maribole Corrections Center in (Maryborough Correction Centre), Queensland, where prisoners set fire to pieces and received medicine stored in the prison.

A riot broke out at Maribole Corrections Center in Queensland around 04:50 on Saturday, the Daily Mail reported. Many prisoners not only set fire, but also smashed prison facilities.

Although the prison sprinkler system quickly extinguished the fire, a prison guard was still smoky. The guard was taken to a nearby hospital with 11 other prisoners who developed smoke inhalation or drug intake symptoms.

A Queensland Corrections Service spokesman said prison guards and 11 prisoners are now out of hospital.

The authorities will investigate the incident, including the cause of the prisoner riot.

Maribole Corrections Center, located 100km south of the central Queensland city of Bandabberg (Bundaberg), accommodates up to 500 male prisoners.

However, according to local media, the Maribole Corrections Centre is overcrowded, usually holding up to 600 people.

It`s nothing new to have a fight in this prison. In April, three prison guards were taken to medical treatment after being attacked by prisoners.
