Where's Lake George?
Lake George (Lake George) is located on (Federal Highway) Road, a federal highway north of Canberra in New South Wales, more than half an hour's drive north of Canberra. Lake George has dried up for years, and the most beautiful scene in memory was driving by in 2009. In 1820, the last British governor to Australia, Major General (Lachlan Macquarie), named Lake Weereewa as Lake George.
Lake George has mystical legends. According to native legend, Lake George's water flows into another world, where there is a marsh monster called bunyip, and the cannibal devil Birik.. As an inner-flowing lake, George Lake has no river or glacier water supply, so no one can say exactly where the water comes from.

George Lake is considered one of the oldest lakes in the world in the geological world. Lake George, about 25 km long and 10 km wide, looks very flat all year round. The Canberra Bureau of Mineral Resources conducted geological prospecting in the summer of 1982 and 1983, and borehole samples showed that the sediment at the bottom of Lake George was as thick as 250m. Based on the analysis of geological sporopollen and magnetic stratigraphic inversion, it is concluded that the sedimentary soil closest to the strata was formed 3 ~ 5 million years ago.
Many Canberra may not know that Lake George is the largest saline lake in New Zealand. In native language, Weereewa means bad water. Lake George's lake is as salty as sea water and can't be consumed directly, according to New York's professional geological website. There is no conclusive account of where the water from Lake George comes from. According to one view, more than a million years ago, rivers connected to the sea passed through the current position of Lake George and then flowed into Lake Yass, and the movement of the crust in the middle of the Canghaisangtian region caused the shores of Lake George to rise, resulting in the formation of the inland lake.
Lake George is a mystery to people because of its fickle water level. George Lake catchment area is about 932 square kilometers, George Lake account for 16% of the area. At present, Lake George's water is determined by the balance of rainfall, surface inflow and water evaporation. It is hard to explain why the lake is so salty. The shallow surface water in the catchment area is not too salty, but it becomes very salty when it reaches the clay layer of 10 m below the bottom of the lake sedimentary zone. By contrast, they were lucky. In 1956, five students at the Royal military College were killed in a sudden strong wind when they crashed in a sailing race. Eighteen months later, the Queanbeyan family in New York took a boat with a Catholic priest. With the exception of the priest, the couple and three children were killed as a result of insufficient fuel causing the ship to sink. Over the years, countless fishermen have died in unpredictable weather on Lake George.
In 2006 / 12, 21 people died on the George Lake side highway at car accident; in Year Nineteen Eighty-nine and in 1990, just after the two-way driveway was built, with 56 cases of car accident, killing four people and injuring 19 others.

Later, however, it became clear that building Canberra around Lake George was not the best option. Because of the changing water level in Lake George, this can cause problems such as excessive dust, mosquito breeding and so on. In a word, Lake George is not a suitable place to build a city.
The ancient and mysterious nature of Lake George attracted many artists. (Elizabeth Cameron Dalman), the famous choreographer, has been celebrating Lake George since the 1990s. Weereewa is one of them. Delman encouraged people to embrace nature and be grateful to her. In her eyes, George Lake, one of the oldest lakes in the world, a great natural miracle in Australia, is undoubtedly a precious gift from nature.

The current situation of George Lake
Since 2008, the southeast side of Lake George began to build the capital wind farm. In October 2009, all completed and put into operation. Today, nearly 70 large white wind engines have become another sight of Lake George.
