In just a year, (Royal Adelaide Hospital) at Royal Adelaide Hospital in South Australia charges more than A $3.6 million for sick visitors.

Royal Adelaide Hospital is one of Australia`s latest hospitals, with an investment of A $2.4 billion and officially put into use at the end of 2017, Radio 7 reported.

In just a year, the Royal Adelaide Hospital has a parking fee of more than $3.6 million. And this is only from the visitor.

In the same period, hospital staff paid more than $7 million for parking.

Royal Adelaide Hospital has an average parking fee of A $24 a day, and nearby hospitals offer free parking within an hour, while Royal Adelaide Hospital does not have such an exemption.

However, government, the South Australian Liberal Party, said hospital parking fees had been slashed during its administration. The cost of applying for a weekly parking card is now A $38, down sharply from A $64.

The South Australian Department of Health says Royal Adelaide Hospital has thousands more parking spaces than other hospitals.

"it`s a lot of money, but people may also understand that the hospital is a very busy place," said Kroff (Elke Kropf), director of hospital operations services.

"Hospital parking fee revenue is used in a number of areas, first, car park maintenance, marking and setting up additional road signs, while the remaining income will be invested in health services," said speaker, South Australia Health Department.
