With the opening of direct flights between Zhengzhou and Melbourne in central China at the end of the year, it is believed that more Chinese tourists will visit Australia.

Jetstar (Jetstar) announced on Wednesday that it would reopen direct flights between Australia and China, offering Melbourne-Zhengzhou direct flights twice a week, following an offer of a partnership with a Chinese travel company.

The flight, which will start in December, uses a Boeing 787-8 passenger plane with 335 seats, Jetstar said on Wednesday. However, the specific day officially opened, the company did not disclose the exact information.

Zhengzhou is located in central China, about 650 kilometers from Beijing. This fast-growing city is now regarded as an important industrial base in China.

In recent years, with the rapid development of tourism between China and Australia, some Chinese airlines have added direct services from first-and second-tier cities to Australia. However, there are no direct flights from Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport to Australia.

Jetstar said the upcoming Melbourne-Zhengzhou direct service was carried out in cooperation with China Kanghui Travel Agency. Air tickets and travel packages are sold directly by travel agents.

Jayne Hrdlicka, chief executive of Jetstar Group, said he hoped that direct flights would further promote Chinese tourism to Australia. "as far as we know, Chinese tourists usually visit several cities when they come to Australia, so we expect direct flights to boost tourism in the rest of Australia," he said.

Melbourne to Zhengzhou is Jetstar`s second direct service between Australia and China. In September 2015, it also opened a direct service from the Gold Coast to Wuhan, although it suspended operations in September 2016.
