E. coli was found in tap water in Logan, south of Brisbane, the Daily Mail reported.
At present, more than 1000 households living in Cedar Grove,Cedar Vale and Woodhill have been told to boil the water and drink it!
E. coli is usually found in the intestines, and most types of E. coli are harmless or even beneficial to digestive tract health. But eating contaminated food or drinks can lead to diarrhoea.
A spokesman for the Logan City Council said: "the city council is working with the health department in Kunzhou and we will test the water quality several times."
The council said it could take two days to deal with the problem, and people should be careful when using water. Although tap water is polluted, there is no serious threat for the human body and no public health problems.
