Unionparty approved the Labour version of the parent visa! Fear of causing 100000 migrants to pour into the suburbs of Sydney

 10 May 2019

Western Sydney will absorb the largest number of elderly immigrants under unlimited visas planned by Labour Party to parents who emigrate overseas.

Analysis of the Daily Telegraph>shows that 14 of the 20 most popular districts born overseas are located in Sydney Metropolitan Area-7 in West Sydney and 5 in the Inner West Side.

Most of these districts have been in explosion over the past decade, with at least 20 percent population growth, according to Australia`s Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

Labour has been accused of using the policy to "buy votes" in districts it wants to take away from the Liberal Party, including Reid and Bennelong in Sydney`s Inner West side and Chisholm. in Melbourne

Unionparty warned that Labour`s decision not to impose a quota cap on the policy, allowing migrant parents to live in Australia for up to 10 years, could lead to an influx of nearly 100000 elderly migrants.

Labour has promised to provide long-term stay parents visas, allow existing immigrant guarantee parents or in-laws (up to four) to live in Australia for three or five years, and renew them in Australia.

Unionparty`s similar visa, which is limited to 15000 people a year, must be renewed overseas. The five-year visa costs 10, 000 yuan, four times as much as Labour`s.

In October, the Ministry of the Interior had 97065 visa applications for overseas parents, which would take 30 years to complete, according to the latest figures.

Kustenmach (Simon Kuestenmacher), director of research at (Demographics Group), a demographer, said "in theory," you can expect the 97000 parents on the waiting list to be "waved away" by government.

``It seems to be a political tool to attract Chinese immigrants who tend to vote to the Liberal Party, but may want to pick up their parents to Australia, `` he said.
