 18 Jun 2017

Recently, in Melbourne`s CBD district, an inflatable refugee was seen squatting in a lifejacket floating on the surface of the (Yarra) river along the Yala River for watch by passers-by along the coast.

The inflatable, 5-meter-high refugee profile highlights the current global refugee crisis. This work of art is based on the scene of refugees on inflatable ships, which will flow down the (Yarra) river.

This art installation is the work of Belgian art groups Schellekens and Peleman. It has been exhibited in Italy, Sweden, Denmark and Belgium for the first time in countries outside Europe and will be exhibited at the Immigration Museum of (Immigration Museum) as part of Refugee week (June 19-25).

20 JuneI am proud that Melbourne is an open city, in Melbourne alone, with immigrants from 200 different countries, speaking more than 240 languages and dialects, and professing 105 different faiths.
