Australia has completed an operation of global concern! The connecting girl from Bhutan has finally been separated.

 30 Nov 2018

Last July, a pair of twins, Nima and Dawa, born by caesarean section in Bhutan`s remote mountains, belong to the Himalayas and are recognized as one of the world`s backward mountains.

The birth of the newborn was supposed to be a heartening thing for the whole family, but the twins` parents had to wash their faces with tears every day.

It turns out that since birth, the twins` breasts and abdomen have been tightly linked together, even sharing the same liver.

This is also Bhutan`s first recorded twins.

The limited level of local health care, coupled with poor family conditions, left the parents of the newborn at a loss and sought help from good-natured people.

Through media reports, Australia`s Children First Foundation informed, the first time to reach out to help!

Not only did they pay for the twins` travel to Australia for treatment, but also helped them connect with the world-renowned The Royal Children's Hospital to undertake the challenging baby separation operation.

The twins` parents finally ushered in the dawn and came to Australia with their daughters looking forward to it!

When government learned of the incident, it announced that it would cover all the costs of the treatment, amounting to about $350, 000, and that all sectors of the Australian community were actively raising funds to show love for the baby girl from Bhutan!

Immediately after accepting the case, The Royal Children's Hospital formed a professional medical team of nearly 25 doctors, nurses and anesthesiologists to participate in the study. As early as 2009, some doctors and nurses have been involved in the separation operation of serial infants and have been successful, and have a lot of experience.

November 9, nearly six hours of surgery, after overcoming the difficulties of one after another, the baby girl was successfully separated! A new life!

Despite the success of the operation, the hearts of the people were still unable to put down completely.

In the days after their separation, the twins showed apparent anxiety, doctors said, because they were used to being linked together. The strangeness of living alone brought them a strong discomfort.

However, under the careful care of paramedics, after several weeks of post-operative rehabilitation, they have gradually begun to adapt.

The baby girls are now in good condition and are able to move normally.

After discharge, they will be sent to the Children First Foundation Rehabilitation Center for follow-up observation.

Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the former king of Bhutan, also sent a thank-you letter to the hospital, thanking Australian paramedics for bringing new life to the baby girls. "Thank you for the successful surgery that enabled Nima and Dawa to start a happy life in Bhutan," he said in the letter.

The Australian community is also very concerned about the situation of this pair of girls, the vast number of Australian media are concerned about this matter, scrambling to report.
