Prime Minister Morrison (Scott Morrison) is planning to attend the upcoming G7 summit in Washington, although the catastrophic new-crown pneumonia epidemic is sweeping the United States.
While australia is not a member of the G7, Trump president has invited several non-member leaders, including australia, to attend the meeting, and mr morrison confirmed today that he will attend the meeting in person, while australia's foreign minister and defense chief will also visit the united states this week to participate in the annual strategic dialogue meeting.
Morrison told journalist : " in Sydney that if G7 meeting were held as scheduled, I would go to Washington ."
"This will be an important opportunity for Australia -- it would be extraordinary if we did not attend these meetings. "
"As our alliance with the United States is the cornerstone of our defence strategy, it would be highly irregular for us not to seek to seize every opportunity to hold these meetings face to face. "
The Australian Foreign Minister, Marise Payne, and Defense Minister Reynolds (Linda Reynolds) will hold a series of meetings in the United States this week with U.S. Secretary of State, Pompeo, and Defense Minister Espoo.
China will be the first informal issue in this series of talks.
