A pet dog miseats poisoned meatloaf in Sydney`s inner west side, reminding pet owners to be on high alert.

Murphy, a Labrador dog in Sydney, is suspected to have eaten rodent meat while walking on the streets of (Birchgrove), Birchgrove, according to a report on Channel 7.

Murphy`s friend Jamel (Robert Gemmell) revealed that Murphy had been ill for about two days and was drowsy all day.

This is not the first time in recent months that a dog has been poisoned in Sydney`s inner west side.

In September, Bay Run, a popular walking route, also found poison meatballs.

Veterinarians said owners who suspected their pets had eaten toxic food should take them to see them immediately. Sometimes, however, it may take a few days to notice signs of poisoning.

Any animal suspected of taking poison should be brought in immediately, but it may take days to notice signs of poisoning.

The local council has received reports of suspected drug poisoning, but authorities say it may be difficult to catch the culprit.
