Australia`s most expensive divorce is officially closed after 14-year hearings in South Australia`s Adelaide courts.

Last month, the family court (Family Court) judge rejected a request for a retrial of the South Australian divorce, the Daily Mail reported. Australia`s most expensive divorce case, the 14-year dispute over the hiring of 16 lawer firms, law costs a cumulative A $40 million.

As early as 2016, a judge called the divorce case "a farce" and a "handmade workshop" that created lawer jobs.

In February, judge Kronin (Paul Cronin) officially dismissed the woman`s appeal. Instead of accepting A $2 million in one-off payments, she wants to retain control of former family trust funds and companies.

In addition, the woman applied for $4098 a week in "spousal alimony", which involved A $1573 a week in "necessary expenses" and A $1560 in clothing expenses. Kroning judge refused to retry the case.

Kroning judge said the woman had repeatedly missed the court hearing and filed documents after the deadline, deliberately delaying the law dispute and taking up "a lot of court`s time."

The couple reportedly broke up in 2005 and marriage remained 11 years old.

"they took longer to file a divorce case than marry did," judge said in his decision.
