The Aquarius meteor shower occurs once a year, starting about mid-April and lasting for a month.

Meteor showers usually peak between May 4 and May 5.

Everyone in Adelaide has a good eye!

(Clare Kenyon), a physicist at the University of Melbourne, said observers could see up to 50 meteors an hour during peak hours if the sky was clear.

There is no need to use any observation tools, the naked eye can see!

In addition, the Aquarius meteor shower happens to appear with the new moon this year, the sky will become darker, so the meteor shower will appear more obvious.

If weather conditions are good, meteor showers will be most obvious from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.

But astronomers say Australia`s best observation time is Wednesday, May 5, around 3 a.m.

At that time, there are 50 meteors each hour across the sky.

They enter the Earth`s atmosphere at a rate of 238000 kilometers per hour, or 66 kilometers per second, leaving behind a string of glowing fragments.
