Several Christmas flights on cheap airline Tigerair were cancelled, resulting in 4000 passengers being rescheduled and travel greatly affected.

 19 Dec 2016

Many of the Tigerair were cancelled during Christmas, affecting thousands of passengers and forcing them to be rescheduled.

Some 4,000 passengers scheduled for domestic flights were temporarily suspended before departure, and the affected flights also included the most popular Sydney-to-Melbourne routes.

It is reported that the cancellation of these flights due to the Tigerair increased passenger aircraft application failed.

They had previously applied to the Civil Aviation Safety Agency for a fourth Boeing 737, but had not yet been approved, but they had included the new aircraft in their flight plans.

This will affect many flights before December 31.

It is understood that this is not because civil aviation authority management is not prepared to approve their application, but because of some delays in the application process.

But according to industry sources, these delays are also frequent.

"We still have regular flights, and almost all of us have been rescheduled to other flights on the same day, no more than two hours from the scheduled departure time to minimize any inconvenience to passengers," he said. A spokesman for the airline said.

A spokesman for the Australian Civil Aviation Authority (CASA) said they were still conducting security checks on the new 737 aircraft that Tigerair is preparing to add.

"this is a long and meticulous process that requires a lot of security checks. Knowing that many safety checks are complete, this plane will not be able to begin carrying passengers. "

"CASA is working with Tiger to complete security checks as soon as possible. But all security checks must be completed. "

Earlier this month, Tigerair contacted passengers who would be affected and provided them with other flights on the same day for free.

They expect the fourth 737 to go into operation next year.

Currently, Tigerair is replacing its existing Airbus A320 to Boeing 737.
