Although private schools in southeastern Australia start at 21650 Australian dollars a year in rural areas, the highest fees are as high as A $69000 a year, the report found.

Richard Stokes, chief executive of the Australian Institute of boarding Schools, said that although private boarding is expensive, they actually offer children value for money.
"boarding often includes all the costs of private schools," Mr. Stokes said.

Private school tuition fees have increased sharply over the past 10 to 15 years as boarding schools have increased the ratio of employees to students and enhanced services and safety measures to meet parents` expectations, Mr. Stokes said.
