The Australian Trade minister Birmingham (Simon Birmingham) hopes the newly signed regional trade agreement will help resolve diplomatic tensions between Australia and China relationship as well as trade disputes.

The Regional Comprehensive economic Partnership relationship Agreement (RCEP), in which 15 countries participated, was signed yesterday after eight years of negotiations, and Australia is a member.

RCEP's membership includes China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand and 10 Southeast Asian countries, covering about 30 percent of the world's goods and services.

Australia currently has bilateral trade agreements with all RCEP member countries, so RCEP for Australia, it will not lead to a tariff drop, but will help start the dialogue between Australia and China.

The Australian trade minister Birmingham, eager to resolve the relationship between the two countries, has not received a response from Chinese officials for months.

"We are open to dialogue with China at any time ," Birmingham told ABC radio on Monday ." Our doors are open and the ball is on their side. "

former prime minister howard (John Howard) suggested that prime minister morrison (Scott Morrison) should hold face-to-face talks with china's national chairman, and morrison said he had been open to such talks.

At last weekend's online summit, Mr Morrison and Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang participated in two rounds of multilateral talks.

"Australia hasn't interrupted any dialogue ," Morrison said on radio AW Wednesday ." We' re totally happy with these discussions and we're ready. "

For some time now, China has allegedly launched a series of trade strikes against Australian products such as barley, wheat, wood, coal, lobster, beef and wine.

"We are deeply concerned about certain regulatory actions and decisions taken by China this year ," Birmingham said ." Our concerns and grievances in this regard have been undisguised. "

Morrison also admitted that there is no doubt "tension" around Australia's exports to China ," seeking patience and practical solutions. "

"They said it was not revenge or coercion or something like that —— they said so —— so we will work with it and seek to solve the problem as realistically as possible ," Morrison said. "

The Australian Trade Union Council (ACTU) expressed dissatisfaction with the RCEP agreement. Aunier (Michele O'Neil), the union's chairman, worries that the deal was reached in secret and that Australian workers could be replaced by cheap overseas labor.

"We support trade, but hope is fair trade ," Onel told ABC. "

"We want to ensure that, while increasing exports, we also ensure that we do not "

RCEP will be submitted to Australia parliament, and reviewed by a dedicated committee. It is expected that it will take one to two years before the agreement can enter into force.
