The president of the EU`s executive committee, Von Delane, announced on Monday that a 2019 upgrade of coronavirus disease at the EU`s risk level from "intermediate" to "advanced" would strengthen warnings of continued transmission of the epidemic. Italy`s new coronavirus confirmed a sharp rise, a cumulative 2000 cases, to 52 death.
Mr von der ryan called a journallist meeting on monday to say the new virus continues to spread in europe and the eu continues to co-ordinate preparations for its member states, raising its risk level from mid-to-higher levels as the virus continues to spread. Mr von der Leyen also announced the appointment of five senior EU chiefs to set up emergency teams to respond to the evolving new virus and monitor its financial implications for the eurozone.
Italy remains the worst country in europe, with a cumulative diagnosis of more than 2000 cases rising to 52 deaths.
Italy`s civil defence agency said on monday that new cases had continued to rise sharply in the past 24 hours, rising from 1694 on sunday to 2036, adding 18 dead and 52 dead.
Italy`s outbreak broke out late last month, mainly in the northern regions of Lombardy and Veneto. The capital, rome, also had the first local family cluster infection.
In addition, Portugal, the Czech Republic and Andorra, a small European country, were among the first confirmed cases.
The number of cases diagnosed in Germany increased by 21 to 150. The German disease control and prevention agency said on Monday that the number of confirmed cases of new coronavirus pneumonia in the country had risen from 129 on Sunday to 150. Of these,86 were in North Rhine-Westphalia, the most populous state, accounting for more than half of the newly diagnosed cases of pneumonia in Germany, Reuters reported.
