The Destination Gold Coast consortium is a joint venture between Star Entertainment Group (Star Entertainment Group) and its Hong Kong partner, far East Development, and Chow Tai Fook. A 10-year construction phase will now begin to complete the Broadbeach master plan.

The newly approved four buildings will include 3000 hotel rooms, ranging from 52 to 74 floors.

When the project is completed, Star Gold Coast will have more than 50 bars and restaurants, employing a total of 6000 employees.

"this master plan will allow The Star Gold Coast to have more travel accommodation facilities than any other resort in Australia," said Matt Bekier, chief executive of Star Entertainment.

"3000 hotel rooms and apartments will also surpass Golden Sand Hotel, Singapore`s world-famous Marina Bay, comparable to even the largest comprehensive resort in Las Vegas."

The five buildings in the first phase of the master plan project were approved in December 2016 and are currently under construction.

The project`s third hotel, which costs A $400 million, will have 316 rooms.

The 53-storey building, which will house Australia`s first (Dorsett) and Star Residences apartments, will open in 2022.

"in addition to the The Star Grand,The Darling and The Dorsett hotels, our expanded master plan provides opportunities for four other buildings and world-class facilities," Bekier said.

Construction of each of the remaining buildings is estimated to create 1800 jobs, or a total of 7200 construction jobs. The operation of the four new buildings will require an additional 3000 employees.
