According to the SBS, (Malcolm Turnbull) goverment will abolish the controversial new parental immigration visa guarantee rules in order to avoid the impending defeat in the Senate.

On April 1st, Social Services Minister Tiehan (Dan Tehan) launched a new regulation on financial guarantee for parents' immigration visas (Assurance of Support,AOS), raising the income threshold for guarantors. Under the new AOS, both parents are required to earn an annual income of A $86607, compared with A $35793 previously provided for by the couple, and a total annual income of A $115476 for parents guaranteed by the couple. Singles guarantee parents come to Australia, annual income must also reach 57738 Australian dollars.

This has sparked a growing wave of opposition among the immigrant community over the past few weeks. Amid rising opposition, the goverment, the coalition party, will completely overturn the new rules that were put in place a month ago.

It is reported that the Green Party on Tuesday submitted a motion to overturn the reform, the Senate had planned to vote on the motion as soon as last night. With Labour and heavyweight independent lawmakers, such as (Derryn Hinch), Stoll (Tim Storer), Griff (Stirling Griff) and Patrick (Rex Patrick), agreeing to support it, 39 are expected to vote in favour of abolishing the new rules. The pro camp is good enough to win by a one-vote margin.

But Green Senator Michael (Nick McKim) postponed the motion at the last minute after he agreed with Iron Cold.

SBS received a letter yesterday from an iron-cold letter confirming that goverment would rather cancel the new rules than face a narrow victory in the Senate for lawmakers in favour of abolishing the new rules.

The goverment will restore the old rules and re-evaluate migrants who have filed applications since the new rules were introduced in April.

The letter also confirmed that Tiehan intended to rewrite the relevant legal documents by May 23 "to restore the situation before April 1."

In a letter to Macintosh, Tiehan said it would cancel the new AOS rule. (SBS, which was put into effect on April 1.)

Macintosh thanked Tiehan for taking care of the problem and accepted his "change of heart". "I personally talked about it with Minister Tiehan and accepted the promise he had made. I think goverment should learn from it. They are aware of the level of opposition from Australia's multicultural community. "

"the Green Party's view is clear: whether you can be reunited with your family should not be determined by how much money you earn," he said.

"there was a dramatic change in the middle of the night," Labour shadow social services minister McLean (Jenny Macklin) told SBS. This should be opposed, and of course Labour will do everything it can to stop it. "
