Police and rescue workers at the car accident site
A 19-year-old male passenger in front of a sedan car crashed into a roadside pole on a road in Hershey Wai (Hurstville) in the Chinese District of southern Sydney early this morning, while a 19-year-old driver was seriously injured and another young man of the same age was slightly injured in the back seat of the car.
The fatal car accident occurred around 2:15 a.m. Saturday at King George Road, Hershey's Quarter (King Georges St).
Police officers from the St. George (St George) District Police Station arrived shortly after the car accident and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation for critically ill young passengers until ambulance crews arrived, but the young man died of the car accident because of his injuries.
The 19-year-old driver of a P2 temporary driver's license was treated at the scene by ambulance personnel for pelvic injuries, which were then taken to St. George's Hospital (St George Hospital) for serious injuries.
A young passenger of the same age in the back of the car was injured in the knee and foot and was taken to St. George's Hospital after emergency treatment by ambulance personnel.
Officials of the Force's Major Crash Investigation Team have visited the car accident to determine whether the speed of the Nissan Nissan 200SX sedan car caused one death or two injuries.
After the car accident happened, King George Road closed vehicles in both directions for a period of time in part of the Haus Wai area.
A nearby resident who was awakened by the sound of a crash early this morning said that the road near the main road was the road was a "drag racing zone ", where people often drag racing accidents.
"We've heard a number of crashes along this road, several times this year ," said Daniel Shaw Shao, who lives not far from the crash site. "
"It was a tragedy that the boy's parents might have been expecting him home last night. "
The father of the four said a fixed speed camera should be installed on the ramp of the road to reduce drag racing.
