The U.S. Senate, considering the presidential impeachment case, acquitted Trump on Wednesday (5) without stepping down.

In a vote on the first count of "abuse of power," the Senate voted 52-48 to pass impeachment and find Trump not guilty. The vote on the second count of "obstruction of parliament" followed a partisan divide that acquitted the president by 53 votes to 47.

The result is not surprising. Trump was previously widely expected not to be criminalized in the Republican majority Senate. The U.S. constitution requires a Senate trial of more than two-thirds of the vote, or at least 67 votes, to convict the president and leave office. The Senate now has 53 Republicans,47 Democrats and independent counculor.

In December, the House, where Democrats prevailed, filed impeachment against Trump on two counts of abuse of power and obstruction of parliament. But the Senate now ends impeachment and Trump will remain in office.

Republican`s only "rebel"

The senate vote largely follows partisan lines, with democrats backing the conviction of mr trump and counculor, the president`s republican party, finding him innocent. But the only "rebel" emerged in the fierce party debate.

Mitt Romney, a Republican, went against the party`s voting bias to find Trump guilty of "abuse of power." He said before the vote:" I think the attempt to sabotage the election to keep authority was an extremely serious attack on institution. This is a major crime and misconduct, so I have no choice but to express this conclusion under oath. "

Mr romney voted against mr trump for "obstructing parliament."

After his statement in support of impeachment," Romney was my hero "once became a hot topic on Twitter. He ran for president of the United States in 2012 but lost to Obama in the general election.

Democratic senator, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, who were previously seen as likely to oppose impeachment, voted in favour.

Impeachment`s aftermath

While Trump is found not guilty, Democratic investigations into his alleged abuse of power may continue.

Democrat Representative Jerry Nadler said earlier that even if Trump was found innocent, the House "most likely" asked former National Security Adviser John Bolton to testify and continue its investigation into Trump. Last week, the Senate rejected a Democrat`s motion to summon witnesses to testify in the hope that the impeachment trial could be speedy.

Mr. nadler said that if the house of representatives called mr. bolton to testify, there would be no limit to the topic of inquiry, not only about mr. trump`s "ukraine call door ". Mr. bolton`s speaker did not comment.

Three days of political ups and downs in America

First he refused to shake her hand, and then she tore up his speech in public.

This isn`t about two fighting children, it`s about the highest-ranking elected politicians of both parties: President Trump and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

On Thursday night, while Trump was giving his State of the Union address at parliament, Pelosi sat behind him with a heavy expression throughout. The pair made no secret of their hostility to each other in the footage of national television live broadcast.

In his statement, Trump referred to the phrase "United States" a total of 97 times," God "10 times," Border "9 times and "Economic "5 times. Impeachment? Not a word.

American politics has been a roller-coaster ride in just three days. The Iowa primary came to an end on Wednesday, when Democrats became the biggest loser in the election because of a technical glitch that failed to announce the results in time, challenging Trump`s path. Trump went head-to-head with Pelosi on Thursday, making the night the most politicised State of the Union address in U.S. history.

Today, Trump is found not guilty. But he will always be the third impeached president in U.S. history, and unlike the previous two, he will seek re-election. Nine months before the 2020 presidential election, there have been earthquakes in U.S. politics.
